Alterna Hemp Seed Straightening Balm Review: Worth Every Penny
The Alterna company specializes in creating shampoos, conditioners, and styling balms that
stand out in the endlessly expanding crowd of hair care products. Where other companies fill their products with
unnecessary oils and weird additives that do who knows what, Alterna’s products are chock-full of natural
ingredients that work to keep your hair healthy, clean, and manageable.
I’ve had nothing but good experiences with Alterna’s shampoos and conditioners, but because
their products can be fairly pricey, it took me a while to get around to trying the Alterna Hemp Seed
Straightening Balm. I was sure it was going to be a good product, but the price was a little bit out of my usual
range, so it was hard to justify buying it.
However, as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. And while the Alterna Hemp Seed
Straightening Balm is more expensive than similar products from other companies, the extra money that you pay
does go toward high quality ingredients.
I first found out about Alterna Hemp Seed Straigtening Balm from my stylist, who uses it
routinely on her customers’ hair as well as in her own. The first time she used it on me, I was astounded by how
straight my hair was afterward. It was soft, frizz-free, strong, and easy to manage. And best of all, the effect
lasted through the day.
But personally, even when a stylist uses a product, I can never fully get behind that
product until I try it for myself for at least a week or two. That’s why I recently bit the bullet and got
myself an 8.3 ounce pump bottle of Alterna Hemp Seed Straightening Balm.
The bottle itself is attractive. I’m a big fan of the color, and the shape is definitely
unique. It’s also nice to use a product that is made of nothing but recyclable materials, which is in line with
the product itself, which is made of organic botanical products and is free of unhealthy oils.
The packaging talks about something called enzymetherapy, which is apparently a type of
hemp-based skin care treatment applied to the hair. I’m not sure about the science behind the whole thing, but
what I do know is that it works. After two weeks of using Alterna Hemp Seed Straightening Balm, I found that the
effects were undiminished. My hair stayed non-frizzy, completely smooth, and amazingly manageable.
The only problem with this product, other than the price, is that if you don’t use it
according to the instructions, you may not get the full effect. On a couple of mornings, I was in a rush and
neglected to go through the whole process, and the difference really showed. So, basically, you need to have
about 15 minutes to spare in the morning to apply this product. Of course, it is worth both the time and the
money, but if you’re a working woman who likes to be on the go within minutes of getting up in the morning, this
may not be the best product for you.
